Biography

Kiriaki Georgiou currently serves as a Research Assistant at the ERATOSTHENES Centre of Excellence in the Big Earth Data Analytics Department. She holds a BSc in Communication and Internet Studies and an MSc in Data Science and Engineering, both from the Cyprus University of Technology. Her master’s dissertation, titled “Enhancing Hate Speech Detection through Transformer Models and Federated Learning,” focused on evaluating different Large Language Models for detecting hate speech on social media in both centralized and decentralized environments. In her current role, Kiriaki develops computational intelligence applications, including advanced machine learning and optimization models to enhance the analysis of earth observation data.
