Researcher

Biography

ORCID: 0000-0002-3009-2407

Dr. Konstantinos (Kostas) Fragkos earned a BSc in Physics and an MSc in Environmental Physics from Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece. He completed his PhD in Atmospheric Physics in 2015 under Prof. Bais’ guidance at the Laboratory of Atmospheric Physics. He continued as a post-Doctoral researcher and served as a Laboratory Teaching Assistant for “Atmospheric Technology,” supervising “Radiometry” exercises for three years. From 2017 to 2022, he worked as a Research Scientist at the National Institute of Research and Development for Optoelectronics INOE200, Romania. There, he established a solar radiation station meeting Baseline Surface Radiation Network (BSRN) standards and led the BSRN station. Since July 2022, he’s been with the Eratosthenes Centre of Excellence, working on the solar radiation and energy sector. His research centers on solar radiation’s interaction with atmospheric elements, like clouds, aerosols, and trace gases. He also explores stratospheric ozone, satellite data validation, and statistical techniques for atmospheric data analysis. His modeling work is focused on the interpretation, simulation, and predictions of solar radiation changes, including solar energy. Kostas contributed to 13 projects, published 15 peer-reviewed papers (h-index: 8 Scopus; 9 Web of Science, 10 Google Scholar), and presented 36 times at international conferences. He is a reviewer for 12 scientific journals.
