ΕΡΑΤΟΣΘΕΝΗΣ/ΤΕΠΑΚ: Πρόβλεψη για μείωση του φαινομένου σκόνης τις επόμενες μέρες
Η Λεμεσός βρίσκεται στο επίκεντρο ενός έντονου φαινομένου μεταφοράς σκόνης από τη Σαχάρα, το οποίο ξεκίνησε στις 21 Απριλίου και συνεχίζεται μέχρι και σήμερα 26 Απριλίου. Η παρουσία σκόνης επιβεβαιώνεται από τις παρατηρήσεις των συστημάτων ατμοσφαιρικής τηλεπισκόπησης της εθνικής υποδομής CARO του Κέντρου Αριστείας Ερατοσθένης, καθώς και από δορυφορικές εικόνες.
Οι στρωματώσεις σκόνης είναι αρκετά έντονες και φαίνεται να φτάνουν μέχρι και τα 4 km απόσταση από το έδαφος, επηρεάζοντας την ορατότητα και τη δημόσια υγεία.
Το μοντέλο MONARCH, προβλέπει τη μείωση του φαινομένου σκόνης, τις επόμενες ημέρες.

Limassol is at the focus of an intense dust transport phenomenon in the atmosphere, which started on 21 April and is still continuing today, 26 April. The presence of dust is confirmed by the observations of the atmospheric remote sensing systems of the national CARO infrastructure of the Eratosthenes Centre of Excellence as well as by satellite images. The dust layers are quite intense and appear to reach up to 4 km from the ground, affecting visibility and public health. The MONARCH model predicts a reduction of the dust phenomenon in the coming days.
Dust from Sahara have been observed at heights of up to 4 km from the ground over #Limassol at 21st– 26th of April 2024.
