Biography

George Zalidis is a graduate of the Department of Agriculture at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, with a doctorate degree from the Department of Soil Science and a post-doctoral degree from the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Michigan State University. He is Professor of the Laboratory of Remote Sensing, Spectroscopy and Geographic Information Systems, a member of the Laboratory of Applied Soil Science and a Professor of Pollution and Soil Degradation in the Department of Agriculture at Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. He also serves as the Scientific Director of the Interbalkan Environment Center (i-BEC) since 2007.

He has published 78 research articles in peer reviewed journals ( > 3500 citations, h-Index: 37 and i10-index: 75, according to Google Scholar and > 2200 citations, h-index 27, according to Scopus), with over 80 oral presentations at conferences. In addition he has been coordinator or invited speaker in 14 of them, and has conducted numerous studies and technical reports. He has coordinated more than 150 research projects, and he is also a reviewer in many scientific journals. He has supervised over 10 doctoral theses at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and at Michigan State University.

His vision is to bring together researchers, policy makers and public institutions with SMEs, exchanging know-how and experience, regionally and globally, thus strengthening economies and competitiveness, to provide solutions to administration and institutions and through quality management to ensure sustainability and after project support.
