Athina Savva is a researcher Assistant A’ at ERATOSTHENES Centre of Excellence in the Environment and Climate department of the Study of the Atmosphere and Atmospheric Remote Sensing team. She graduated from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki with a BSc in Physics focused on atmospheric topics. She had her MSc in the department of Environment of the University of the Aegean in Global Environmental Change, Management and Technology in the direction of Ecological Engineering-Energy & Climate Change. Currently she is a PhD candidate in the department of Civil Engineering and Geoinformatics in Cyprus University of Technology investigating the aerosol characteristics utilizing remote sensing methods. Her research interest relates to the Study of the Atmosphere, Atmospheric Remote Sensing, Air pollution, Aerosol classification and Climate Change. She is involved in the data processing of aerosols optical properties observed from the ground based remote sensing station, from instruments such as the PollyXT Polarization Raman Lidar and the Cimel sun-photometer. She has also been engaged in the study of the state of the atmosphere, focusing on the characterisation of aerosols and the identification of their sources.
