Daniela Lewis Mewes is an Assistant Researcher in the Atmospheric Sciences division of the Environmental and Climate Department at Eratosthenes Centre of Excellence. She brings both experience in engineering and applied physics to the team, with a BSc in Earth and Atmospheric Sciences (Geophysics) from the Georgia Institute of Technology in Atlanta, Georgia, USA and a MSc in Sustainable Energy Engineering from KTH in Stockholm, Sweden. During her master’s she competed in and won the national Clean Tech Challenge with a solar-powered invention for recycling plastic waste for 3D printing, while also publishing in the field of sustainable energy. In the course of her undergraduate degree, she contributed to field research in atmospheric physics and paleo hydro-climatology through NSF-funded initiatives in both Greenland and Borneo. She now focuses on how aerosols impact photovoltaics, supporting the ATARRI project through Eratosthenes in their research goals with a novel approach from the angle of an engineer returning to a specialized scientific field.
