Biography

Ilias Machairas is a GIS Engineer and Hydrologist specializing in urban water management, geospatial analysis, and climate adaptation strategies. With an MSc in Water Resources Management from TU Delft and a background in Rural and Surveying Engineering, his research interests lie at the intersection of hydrology, machine learning, and GIS applications. His work explores drought and flood modelling, urban heat island effects, and precision agriculture through geospatial data science. Ilias has contributed to projects involving satellite imagery analysis, anomaly detection in land use, and smart irrigation systems, leveraging AI, Python, and PostgreSQL. Passionate about environmental resilience and data-driven decision-making, he continues to develop innovative solutions for sustainable water resource management.
