Maria Poutli is a Phd candidate at Eratosthenes CoE in Cyprus University of Technology in the Environment and Climate department of the Study of the Atmosphere and Atmospheric Remote Sensing team. In 2021, she completed her undergraduate studies in Aristotle University of Thessaloniki where she also attained her master’s degree in Atmospheric Physics in 2023. Her master’s dissertation focused on dust mass profiling with polarization lidar technique. Presently, her work involves the statistical analysis of smoke particles’ optical properties from wildfires at different aging levels and their impact on air quality. The interconnection between air pollution, meteorology and climate is her primary research interest with emphasis on aerosols and their indirect effects on climate through their interaction with clouds. Her purpose is to investigate and delve deeply into the influence of different aerosol types on microphysical properties of clouds utilizing remote sensing techniques.
