Dr. Sofoclis Zambirinis is a Post-Doctoral Researcher at ERATOSTHENES CoE, in the Department of Big Earth Data Analytics. He holds a B.Sc. in Mathematics (University of Athens, 2009, GPA 9.4/10, top 1% of his class), an M.Phil. in Statistical Science (University of Cambridge, 2010), and a Ph.D. in Management Science (Lancaster University, 2019), with a specialization in optimization in vehicle routing and scheduling. Before joining ERATOSTHENES CoE, he worked as a mathematics teacher in Paphos from 2010 to 2019. He also worked as a part-time teaching assistant at Neapolis University Pafos (2012-2013), as a lecturer in statistics (2017), and as a data scientist and consultant for Electi Consulting Limited in Limassol (2018-2019). After a brief period of employment with the Cyprus Government (2019-2020), he pursued a post-doctoral research position in network data science at the Cyprus University of Technology (2/2021-9/2023). Subsequently, he served as a Lecturer in Operations Management and Business Analytics at the American University of Beirut-Mediterraneo, Cyprus (9/2023-1/2024), and as a Lecturer in Mathematics and Statistics at the American University of Cyprus (9/2023-2/2024). During his doctoral studies, his research interests included mathematical programming, combinatorial optimization, multi-objective optimization, metaheuristic algorithms, vehicle routing and scheduling problems, and disruption management. His post-doctoral research focuses on time-varying hyperbolic geometric graphs, temporal networks, network geometry, and more generally, complex networks.
