Biography

Dr. Constantinos Panagiotou received the B.Sc. (Hons, first of his class) degree in Physics from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, GR (2009), and the Ph.D degree in Mechanical Engineering and Manufacturing from the University of Cyprus, CY (2016). Before joining ERATOSTHENES Centre of Excellence, he worked as a Postdoctoral Researcher Associate at Institute of Industrial Science at The University of Tokyo (Todai), Japan (2016-2019), as a Post-doctoral Researcher at NIREAS International Water Research Centre at the University of Cyprus, CY (2019-2022) and as a Post-Doctoral Researcher at the Department of Civil Engineering and Geoinformatics at the Cyprus University of Technology, CY (2020-2022).  His research interests include structure-based modeling of aerodynamical turbulent flows, heat transfer phenomena, water resources management, groundwater modeling, mathematical development of optimization methods for fluid-mechanics related problems, geostatistical interpolation methods and simulations, machine-learning classification methods, quantitative microbial risk assessment, managed aquifer recharge, multi-criteria decision analysis etc.  He has contributed to more than 10 funded projects (with partners in both academia and industry). Dr. Panagiotou has been awarded a PRIMA Project, called AGREEMAR (2022-), and served as Project Manager in another Water-JPI project, called SMART-CONTROL (2019-2022). He has more than 20  peer-reviewed journal publications, being invited to provide training courses and lectures in other countries (Center of Water Research and Technologies (CERTE) in Tunisia.
