Round Table: Earth Observation and Geoinformatics for the Protection of Cultural Heritage
We’re thrilled to share highlights from a round table discussion at Remote Sensing Cyprus 2024 Conference, focusing on “Earth Observation and Geoinformatics for the Protection of Cultural Heritage.” Experts from the Eratosthenes Centre of Excellence, German Aerospace Centre (DLR), and Geosystems Hellas convened to explore the vital role of earth observation technologies in safeguarding cultural heritage against natural and man-made threats.
The roundtable covered ground-breaking projects like EXCELSIOR, ENIGMA, TRIQUETRA, FPCUP, REVITALISER, and GLITSS emphasizing how advanced remote sensing and geoinformatics are key to protecting heritage and archaeological sites. Participants underscored the necessity of joint actions and collaboration among all major stakeholders to enhance the effectiveness of these technologies.
This event not only strengthened ties among leading experts but also paved the way for future collaborations, establishing the Eratosthenes Centre of Excellence as a central figure in heritage protection in Cyprus.
