Dr. Efthymios GEORGIOU

Biography

Dr. Efthymios Georgiou is a Mechanical Engineer and Materials Scientist with extensive research experience in the field of renewable energy. He holds a BSc in Mechanical Engineering, an MSc in Mechanical Engineering and Materials Science and Engineering, and a PhD from the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the Cyprus University of Technology. During his doctoral studies, Efthymios served as a Research Fellow in the Molecular Electronics and Photonics Research Unit, where his research focused on applied physics and engineering, with particular emphasis on the nanofabrication and characterization of organic photovoltaic devices. Following the completion of his PhD, he continued his academic work as a Postdoctoral Research Associate for an additional two years. Throughout his academic career, he has actively participated in numerous European and national funded research projects. His work has been published in several international peer-reviewed journals and presented at scientific conferences. In addition to his academic background, Efthymios has gained substantial professional experience in the energy sector. He served as an Industrial Extension Officer at the Ministry of Energy, Commerce and Industry, where he developed a deep understanding of the Cypriot energy landscape. He subsequently held the position of Product Development Manager in the private sector, where he contributed to the development of innovative products and services within the energy field. Efthymios is currently a Postdoctoral Researcher at the Eratosthenes Centre of Excellence, within the Department of Resilient Society, where his research interests continue to focus on energy systems and sustainable technologies.
