ERATOSTHENES Center of Excellence and SESAME Sign Collaboration Agreement

We are pleased to announce that the ERATOSTHENES Center of Excellence and SESAME (Synchrotron-light for Experimental Science and Applications in the Middle East) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), establishing a formal framework for scientific collaboration between our institutions.

This strategic partnership brings together the advanced remote sensing capabilities and geospatial expertise of the ERATOSTHENES Center of Excellence with SESAME’s world-class synchrotron facility—the first major international research Center in the Middle East.

Advancing Scientific Research Through Collaboration

The MOU establishes a foundation for joint research initiatives combining synchrotron techniques with Earth observation technologies. It enables the exchange of scientific and technical expertise between our institutions and provides collaborative access to advanced research facilities and instrumentation. Together, we will develop innovative methodologies for environmental monitoring and materials science while creating training opportunities and knowledge transfer for researchers and students.

Regional Impact and Global Significance

This collaboration represents a significant advancement for scientific research in the Eastern Mediterranean and Middle East regions. By combining our complementary strengths, we aim to address pressing regional challenges in environmental monitoring and climate change adaptation, materials science and advanced engineering applications, cultural heritage preservation and analysis, renewable energy development, and sustainable resource management.

The partnership between our institutions demonstrates the power of scientific diplomacy and cross-border collaboration in addressing shared challenges while advancing scientific excellence.

We look forward to the discoveries and innovations that will emerge from this important collaboration.
