Strengthening Italy–Cyprus Cooperation in Cultural Heritage Protection and Valorisation

A meeting was recently held at the Embassy of Italy in Nicosia, where H.E. Antonella Cavallari, Ambassador of Italy to Cyprus, welcomed Dr Marina Solomidou-Ieronymidou, President of the UNESCO Committee in Cyprus, and Dr Dante Abate of the ERATOSTHENES Centre of Excellence.

The meeting aimed to further strengthen collaboration between Italy and Cyprus in the fields of cultural heritage protection, conservation and valorisation, fostering dialogue and exploring opportunities for joint initiatives.

It also marks a further step towards the implementation of the recently signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the ERATOSTHENES Centre of Excellence and the UNESCO Committee in Cyprus, which provides a framework for closer collaboration and the development of joint activities.

Building on the strong cultural and historical ties between Italy and Cyprus, this initiative seeks to bring together institutional stakeholders, scientific expertise and technological capabilities to address shared challenges in safeguarding and promoting cultural heritage.
