Ground Station Engineer

Biography

Christos Dimou is currently working as a Ground Station Engineer within the Business and Development Department at the Eratosthenes Centre of Excellence. His primary responsibility is the operation and support of the Ground Station infrastructure at Eratosthenes.Regarding his academic background, Christos holds a Bachelor’s degree in Electronic and Communication Engineering from ASPAITE in Athens, a Postgraduate Degree in Telecommunications Engineering from ASPAITE, and a Master’s Degree in Information and Communication Systems (Wireless Communications) from the Open University of Cyprus. He brings more than 15 years of experience in the Telecommunications and Satellite Communications sector, having worked for satellite providers such as Hellas Sat and Avanti Communications. Throughout his career, he has successfully delivered numerous government and civil projects, strengthening his expertise in Project Management, Satellite and Ground Segment operations, Datacentre infrastructure, and the broader Telecommunications field. His contributions have consistently supported significant revenue generation for his employers. Before joining Eratosthenes, Christos worked in Munich (Oberpfaffenhofen) at the DLR German Space Operations Centre (GSOC) under LSE Space/SSC as a Satellite Ground Operations Engineer. In this role he was supporting major European missions involving LEO, MEO, and GEO satellites, including Galileo (Europe’s satellite navigation system), GRACE-FO (NASA and DLR), GRACE-C (NASA and DLR), and several other missions managed by GSOC. Christos is highly passionate about space and is very pleased to be part of the Eratosthenes team.
