Dr. Charalambos CHRYSOSTOMOU

Biography

Dr. Charalambos Chrysostomou received a B.Sc. degree in Computer Science (2006), an M.Sc. degree in Computational Intelligence and Robotics (2007), and a Ph.D. degree in Bioinformatics (2013). Before joining the ERATOSTHENES Centre of Excellence, he worked as an Associate Research Scientist at The Cyprus Institute (2019-2024), as a Computational Scientist at The Cyprus Institute (2017-2019), and as a Post-Doctoral Research Associate (2012-2016). His research interests include advanced machine learning methodologies, big data analysis, high-performance computing (HPC), and the development of platforms for efficient data discovery, distribution, and analysis. He has been involved in multiple funded projects that leverage HPC and machine learning for large-scale data challenges, including healthcare and other complex data environments. Dr. Chrysostomou has contributed to numerous peer-reviewed publications and holds editorial positions in several scientific journals. He is currently leading research efforts at the ERATOSTHENES Centre of Excellence, specialising in applying machine learning techniques to remote sensing and geospatial data analysis.
