Mrs Maria Prodromou is currently a PhD candidate in exploitation of remote sensing techniques in wildfires at the Cyprus University of Technology (CUT) under the supervision of Prof. Diofantos Hadjimitsis. She received her BSc in Surveying Engineering and Geomatics from CUT and continued her studies in the field of “Geoinformatics and Geospatial Technologies”. During her BSc, she studied the detection of underground structures using field spectroscopy for defence and security while her MSc dissertation focus on characterizing aerosol optical properties using LiDAR. In the summer of 2016, she took a practical training session at Marathon Data Systems in Athens where she attended a series of seminars for ArcGIS software. Following this she worked as a land surveyor in the Department of Lands and Survey for 8 months. Since November 2017, she has been a research assistant at CUT actively participating in various research programs. In August 2022, she began working as a Researcher C, at Eratosthenes Centre of Excellence in the Department of Resilient Society. Her research focuses on satellite remote sensing, spectroradiometers, GIS, Geoinformatics for environmental applications, forest monitoring and specifically on post-fire regeneration dynamics using satellite images time-series analysis. Moreover, she has contributed to multiple research programs funded by INTERREG, ESA-PECS, EU and H2020. Furthermore, she has participated in various activities such as giving presentations.
