Panayiotis N. Panayiotou currently serves as an Assistant Researcher A in the Cultural Heritage sector at the Resilient Society cluster of the Eratosthenes Centre of Excellence. He specialises in archaeological research of Monuments and Sites At-Risk employing advanced technologies including Remote Sensing (TLS and Photogrammetry), Digital 3D Reconstruction, Scan-to-BIM, and Heritage BIM (HBIM). His research experience includes active involvement in EU-funded projects concentrating on the 3D digitisation of monuments and artefacts, point cloud processing, HBIM modelling, and the co-authoring of project deliverables and publications. Moreover, he worked as a Teaching Assistant preparing courses for architecture students and as a Special Scientist on research projects. As an Architect specialising in BIM, he has managed notable projects from pre-design (LOD 100) to technical detailing (LOD 400). At the same time, he is pursuing his PhD at the Department of Architecture, University of Cyprus. His research includes Scan-to-BIM methodologies, digital reconstruction, visual programming and building pathology. Part of his research was presented at the 1st International Conference on Digital Architecture Research in March 2023, and at the 42nd eCAADe Conference in September 2024, where he received the Ivan Petrovic Award for his paper, titled “A Holistic Documentation and Analysis of Timber Roof Structures in Heritage Buildings Using Scan to HBIM Approaches”.
