Virtual Invited talk: Use of satellite and model data to identify the onset of Ostreopsis ovata harmful algal bloom in the Ligurian Sea
On December 15th, 2021, the EXCELSIOR H2020 project, the ERATOSTHENES Centre of Excellence (ECoE) and the Department of Civil Engineering and Geomatics of the Cyprus University of Technology organized a virtual invited talk by Dr Chiara Lapucci.
Dr. Chiara LAPUCCI is a researcher at the Institute for BioEconomy of the National Research Council in Florence, and at LaMMA Consortium. She graduated in Biology and received her Ph.D at the University of Florence. She works on ocean color satellites and bio-optical remote sensing, on in situ biogeochemical oceanographic measurements, on the assimilation of those data to study the Mediterranean Sea, in particular the Ligurian and North Tyrrhenian Sea and its ecosystem, and on the use of satellite biogeochemical parameters (chlorophyll, TSM) for the study of water quality, the performance of oceanographic models, for the coupling of physical and biogeochemical parameters. She also works on the study of the distribution and effects of anthropogenic pollutants, such as plastic in the ocean. She participates to oceanographic campaign within the described studies.
